About 12,000 people have been tested for COVID-19 at NSW Health-run clinics in St George and Sutherland Shire since they opened two months ago.
Sutherland Hospital COVID-19/Flu Assessment Clinic has performed the majority of the tests, with 7176 patients tested between March 16, when the clinic opened, and May 13.
Figures obtained by the Leader showed the St George Hospital COVID-19/Flu Assessment Clinic conducted 3344 tests between March 19 and May 13.
A further 1076 tests were conducted at the clinic set up at Hurstville Community Health between April 6, when it opened, and March 15.
A new drive-through COVID-19 testing clinic that opened at Sutherland Multi-Purpose Centre on May 12 carried out 500 tests in the first five days.
These figures do not include tests carried out at privately run pathologists following referrals from GPs, or those carried out at hospital emergency departments.
There have been 3081 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in NSW as at 8pm on May 19. Forty-nine people have died.
During that period, there have been 115 confirmed cases in Sutherland Shire, 67 in Bayside local government area and 59 in Georges River.

In Sutherland Shire, the 2230 postcode covering Bundeena, Burraneer and Cronulla has recorded 24 cases, while the 2234 postcode, which covers Alfords Point, Bangor and Barden Ridge has 20 confirmed cases.
The 2229 postcode covering Caringbah and Caringbah South has 15 cases, while 2233, which covers Engadine, Heathcote and Waterfall has recorded 13.
Others include 2224, seven cases; 2227, six cases; 2228, five cases; 2225, five cases; 2226, two cases.
In St George, the 2210 postcode covering Lugarno, Peakhurst and Peakhurst Heights has recorded 21 confirmed cases, while 2216, which covers Banksia, Brighton-Le-Sands and Kyeemagh recorded 13 cases.
The 2218 postcode covering Allawah and Carlton has 12 confirmed cases. The 2217 postcode covering Beverley Park, Kogarah and Kogarah Bay has 10 cases, as does 2207, which covers Bexley and Bardwell Park.
Others include 2209, nine; 2205, nine; 2219, seven; 2223, three; 2221, two cases.
