Urgent changes are to be made around 11 Sutherland Shire schools to help manage extra drop-off and pick-up traffic.
Council traffic staff have prepared the changes in consultation with school principals, and they will go to the Traffic Committee for endorsement on Friday June 5.
A council report did not explain why only 11 schools had been singled out. Changes at other schools might follow.
The report said parking officers had increased efforts at all schools and advisory signs had also been installed at some locations.
"There may be some locations that cannot be resolved through further changes to parking, and we expect the community will need to increase its tolerance," the report said.
"Furthermore, it may be necessary for some schools to stagger their starting and finishing times, in order for changes to be effective.
"Council officers continue to monitor traffic congestion, queueing and delays during peak periods and assisting schools with changes, where possible."
The changes detailed in the council report:
Lilli Pilli Public School: Convert the existing 30 metre 'BUS ZONE' on the southern side of Turriel Bay Road, west of Regatta Avenue, Lilli Pilli to 'BUS ZONE 9.30AM-3PM SCHOOL DAYS, NO PARKING 8.30AM-9.30AM 3PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS'. Extend the existing 'NO PARKING 8:30AM- 9:30AM 3PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the eastern side of Lilli Pilli Point Road, Lilli Pilli, by 36 metres to the north.
Cronulla South Public School: Extend the existing 'NO PARKING 8AM-9AM 2.30PM-3.30PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the northern side of Trevallayn Street, Cronulla, by 24 metres to the west. Convert and the existing 24 metre 'NO PARKING 8AM-9AM 3PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the south-western side of Ewos Parade, between Trevallayn Street and Lucas Street, Cronulla to 'NO PARKING 8AM-9AM 2.30PM-3.30PM SCHOOL DAYS', and extend this zone by 36 metres to the northwest and 30 metres to the southeast.
Caringbah North Public School: Convert the existing 24 metre 'BUS ZONE 8.30AM-9.30AM SCHOOL DAYS' on the western side of Cawarra Road, south of Frobisher Avenue, Caringbah to with 'NO PARKING 8:30AM-9:30AM 2.30PM-3.30PM SCHOOL DAYS'. Install a 32 metre 'NO PARKING 8:30AM- 9:30AM 2.30PM-3.30PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the western side of Cawarra Road, south of Carabella Road Caringbah.
St Francis De Sales Primary School, Woolooware: Extend the existing 'NO PARKING 2.30PM-3.30PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the western side of Trickett Road, south of Hill Street, Woolooware by 18 metres to the south.
Woolooware High School: Extend the existing 'NO PARKING 8AM-9.30PM 2.30PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the eastern side of Restormel Street, Woolooware, by 20 metres to the south.
Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Primary School, Caringbah: Convert the existing 6 metres of 'NO PARKING 8AM-9PM 3PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS' on the western side of Burns Lane, Caringbah to 'NO STOPPING 8AM-9.30PM 2PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS'.
Sutherland North Public School: Extend the existing 'NO PARKING 8:30AM- 9:30AM 3PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the eastern side of Auburn Street, Sutherland, by 15 metres to the north. Install a 24 metre 'No Parking 8:30AM-9:30AM 3PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the southern side of Moira Street, Sutherland.
St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, Sutherland: Convert the existing 'NO PARKING 2:30PM-3:30PM SCHOOL DAYS', with 'NO PARKING 8:30AM- 9:30AM 2:30PM-3:30PM SCHOOL DAYS' on the western side of Belmont Street, south of Flora Street, Sutherland.
St John Bosco Catholic Primary School, Engadine: Convert the existing 55 metre 'P10 MINUTE 8:30AM-9:30AM 3PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS' zone on the south-western side of Waratah Street, Engadine, to 'NO PARKING 8:30AM- 9:30AM 3PM-4PM SCHOOL DAYS'. Install 'NO RIGHT TURN' in Banksia Road at the St John Bosco Catholic Primary School Church driveway, Engadine.
