Football NSW has applauded the decision by FIFA that Australia and New Zealand will host the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.
Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge said hosting a spectacle of this magnitude involving our women's game is a dream come true for the sport, country, state, players, participants and fans alike.
"It's a great day for football in NSW and Australia. The tournament will be a catalyst for the further development of women's football in NSW and Australia, creating a profound and enduring legacy for the women's game."
This Women's World Cup will be the first in the Southern Hemisphere, the first in the Oceania Football Confederation and the first to feature 32 teams, up from 16.
Hodge acknowledged the work of Football Federation Australia and the support of the Australian Football Community.
"The Federal and NSW Governments also led the way in providing support for the bid," he said
