Hunt powers Dragons to victory

As the storm clouds rolled in over Kogarah and the heavens opened the St George fans started to get nervous knowing it was their best chance to get the two points over a Manly club with more problems than them.

A consistent 80-minute effort from maligned Dragons hooker Ben Hunt made sure Manly never got out of first gear as the Red V made it three wins in five games.

Manly started with a bang getting on the board first but made some mistakes and winger Mikaela Ravalawa made them pay with some big hits, and the Dragons hit back with prop Josh Kerr getting good ball from Ben Hunt going in under the posts.

A flying Matt Dufty then scored a runaway long-range try and put them into a 10-4 lead after half an hour.

Fullback Zac Lomax took the game on in the second half and slipped a pass to Fijian winger Ravalawa then kicked the sideline conversion to make it 18-4 he then latched onto a 40-metre intercept with seven minutes remaining then Corey Norman joined in, swooping on a clever Adam Clune kick to blow the score out to 28-4.

Euan Aitken scored in the dying minute to send Manly home to notch their third win of 2020 and the small crowd of St George.Illawarra fans went home happy.

The 11th placed Dragons now travel to Wollongong in back to back home games to take on the under siege last placed Bulldogs and look confident to get some more points.
