There have been a further seven new confirmed cases of coronavirus linked to the Crossroads Hotel at Casula before noon today, bringing the total number to 21.
NSW Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant made the announcement at a press conference this afternoon, in which she also asked anyone who visited two Sutherland Shire eateries to be on the lookout for symptoms.
Dr Chant said the seven new cases detected today, on top of the 14 detected to 8pm last night, brought the total number of coronavirus cases in NSW to 3303.
Of the 21 total cases linked so far to the Crossroads Hotel, eleven were close contacts of those who had attended the hotel, including a child, two teenagers, a man in his 30s and a woman in her 50s. All are from south western Sydney.
She said this showed how easily the virus could spread.
"You can see how rapidly COVID-19 can spread if we do not act promptly," she said.
Dr Chant said a number of venues which were attended by those who had tested positive to coronavirus were now under the spotlight, including Cook @ Kurnell and Highfield at Caringbah.
She said anyone who attended these venues at the following times and dates when a COVID-positive person was in attendance should closely monitor themselves for symptoms and seek testing immediately if any occur.
- Cook @ Kurnell, Sunday, July 5, between 11.30am and 12.30pm.
- Highfield Caringbah, Sunday, July 5, between 6pm and 9pm.
Other venues include the Picton Hotel and The Star Sydney casino.
Dr Chant said it was not necessary for people to self-isolate if they had visited either venue at those times.
"NSW Health urges anyone who attended these venues at these times to watch for any COVID symptoms and if they occur to isolate and get tested right away," she said.
"We are not asking people to isolate themselves."
