G'day readers,
I was talking to Jim Gainsford this week at one of our news meetings and we discussed how we would be telling a few good news stories this week.
We agreed that despite this dastardly pandemic people were mostly trying to remain positive.
How good is that?
Here in the St George area and Sutherland Shire we have a lot to be thankful for.
Our Murray Trembath brought us the story of Camellia Gardens 50th anniversary this week.
Lawn areas, duck ponds, paths, playgrounds and a quaint teahouse help to make the gardens a significant attraction.
In amongst the historical photos in the yarn, you'll find a few gems from John Veage. It's a lovely story.
How many of us can say they've worked at the same place for 40 years? Jim went out and had a chat with one such person on Friday. Margaret Bennett has a few tales to tell after all those years working in a liquor store. Last drinks? Not yet, anyway.
Our snapper Chris Lane got some beautiful photos to go with Jim's yarn.
Do you know a nurse or midwife who goes above and beyond to care for their patients?
Merryn tells us the awards hold special significance this year not only because of COVID but because 2020 is International Year of the Nurse and Midwife.
Merryn also gives us an update on new COVID restrictions we will all have to get used to.
