Georges River Council has today reopened several services at Hurstville, Clive James Kogarah and Penshurst Libraries, managed within the NSW Government's COVID-19 safety plan for Libraries.
Services now available at these Libraries include browsing and borrowing, click and collect, self-service kiosks, computer usage, printing, photocopying and scanning, studying/ working in designated spaces and 24/7 after-hours return chutes.
Council has taken steps to ensure the safety of staff and customers, with visitors notto exceed one person per 4 square metres of space. Stricter cleaning regimes have been enforced throughout the libraries and hand sanitiser is available for visitorsand staff.
Acrylic shields are now installed at all library service points, and physical distancing is enforced among staff and customers. Library items are also quarantined between 24 and 72 hours before being returned to the library shelves.
The community is encouraged to play their part in helping to keep everyone safe. People are asked not to visit the library or return items if they are feeling unwell, have a cough or flu-like symptoms, maintain good personal hygiene and keep at least 1.5 metre distance from others.
Oatley and South Hurstville Libraries remain closed as Council investigates options to ensure they will comply with the NSW Public Health Order and COVID-19 Safety Plan for Libraries. Council is committed to reopening these facilities as soon as possible for our community.
