Nominations are now open for annual St George Community Awards.
Oatley MP Mark Coure is calling for the community to nominate hard-working local volunteers, community organisations or businesses for the various award categories.
Now in their tenth year, the St George Community Awards acknowledge and thank the many volunteers and organisations that strive to make our community a better place to live, work and play.
This year's categories for the Awards are:
Individual Volunteer Achievement Award
Youth Achievement Award
Community Group Achievement Award
Business Achievement Award
Senior Volunteer Achievement Award
Sporting Achievement Award
Environmental Achievement Award
Mr Coure said that this year's awards would be held differently due to COVID-19, but would still honour those community members who have made a difference locally.
"This year has been tough for NSW and our local community. The drought, bushfires and now COVID-19 have impacted our local community and tested our strength and resilience," Mr Coure said.
"Throughout these challenging times we have seen many people and organisations from our local area step up and look to assist those in need. It is my great honour to recognise and highlight these people and their achievements.
"This year's awards will be different due to COVID-19 but I am still very excited to personally congratulate the award recipients and thank them for their hard work and dedication.
"If you know of any unsung hero in our local community I would encourage you to nominate them so as a community we can acknowledge their positive contributions."
Nominations for this year's St George Community Awards are now open and will close at 9am, September 7, 2020.
