Georges River Council is calling on local residents to share insights and feedback on the draft Beverly Hills Masterplan (draft Masterplan), which will inform the final Beverly Hills Masterplan and revitalisation of the Beverly Hills Town Centre.
The council prepared the draft Masterplan and vision for the Beverly Hills Town Centre based on feedback received from local residents, business owners, landowners and other stakeholders during community consultation in 2018.
Economic, demographic, traffic and parking studies have also been undertaken to guide the development of the draft Master Plan, which aims to encourage urban renewal, improve the amenity and quality of the built environment and public domain and provide new housing and employment opportunities to support economic revitalisation.
The draft Masterplan establishes five concepts for the Town Centre including renewing 'The Strip' on King Georges Road, and exploring new opportunities for people to live close to public transport and services.
A New Civic Square on the corner of King Georges Road and Frederick Street is also being investigated, in addition to improved connections to places and enhanced green space, such as pocket parks and a new neighbourhood park on the corner of Norfolk Avenue and Lee Avenue.
The draft Masterplan outlines implementation options comprising amendments to planning controls, bonus development incentives, land dedication and land acquisition for the delivery of new public infrastructure.
Due to restrictions enforced and advice supplied by the Federal and NSW Government to manage the risk of transmission of COVID-19, Council will not host any in-person consultation sessions regarding the draft Masterplan.
There are a variety of ways that the community can have their say on the draft Masterplan
before consultation closes on 28 September 2020.
Following Public Exhibition of the draft Masterplan, Council will review all submissions and final changes will be made to the plan before it is presented to Georges River Councillors for adoption.
