Melbourne Demons re-sign East Blaxland's Brenna Tarrant

East Blaxland's Brenna Tarrant has been offered a second year-long contract with the Melbourne Demons.

Tarrant debuted for the Demons in the AFLW league this year, in a season cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The draftee played three games on the backline before the season abruptly ended.

She was over the moon to be selected again, after recovering from her agent's initial prank, telling her "you've been de-listed" before saying "lucky you don't have to worry about that 'cause you have been re-signed."

"My heart dropped and then I cried," Tarrant said.

She doesn't mind where she's put on the ground. "I'm trying to stay versatile but I'm happy wherever they put me. I'm hoping for forwards ... I'm prepared to play wherever."

Tarrant will return to Melbourne in late October for pre-season kick-off in early November.

The 18-year-old has kept fit with gym work, and training and games with her local club, the East Coast Eagles.

She has also been working part time at a bike shop in Penrith.

The former St Columba's Catholic College student will be looking for part-time work again when she returns to Melbourne, and plans to build on last season's momentum.

"I'm hoping to continue the game-time from last season. I'm hoping to keep that streak going and work hard and do everything that the coaches ask," Tarrant said.
