Enrolments in the NSW Government's free TAFE courses offered during the coronavirus pandemic passed more than 115,000.
The government launched the COVID-19 support short courses to provide an opportunity for NSW residents to gain new skills at the height of the pandemic.
By the time enrolments closed at the end of July, a total of 115,537 were received, with a Statement of Attainment in Medical Administration Skills the most popular course.
Of those who enrolled, 27 per cent were studying at TAFE NSW for the first time, and up to 15 per cent of first-time TAFE students said they intended to undertake further study at TAFE in the future.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said: "We know how important skills training is for driving the state's economy and it will play a crucial role coming out of the COVID pandemic.
"The NSW Government's COVID-19 fee-free short courses have delivered an opportunity to upskill during COVID-19 as well as deliver a meaningful boost to workplaces across the state."
Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee praised TAFE NSW for delivering the program.
"To hit more than 115,000 enrolments in a single program in such a short time is truly a remarkable result," he said.
"I hope the courses have assisted people during this difficult time."
The NSW Government announced in April that TAFE NSW would provide free online access to 21 short courses to anyone in NSW who wanted to upskill during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr Lee said at the time the courses on offer would assist job seekers and workers who wished to diversify their skills.
Among the 21 short courses on offer were eMarketing for Small Business; Engaging Customers Using Social Media; Writing and Presentation Skills; Computing Skills; Team Leader Skill Set and Administration Skills for Team Leaders.
The enrolment period has now closed but TAFE NSW continues to offer a number of subsidised courses.
