For the first time in Sutherland Hockey Club's history, they have a team in the Sydney Women's Hockey League which is the highest level of women's club hockey played in Sydney.
This creates an opportunity for them to grow the women's side of the club and gives young, talented ladies a pathway from juniors to the highest level of competitive women's hockey.
In their round six clash with Canterbury, the undefeated top of the table team's main supporter had pledged to donate $100 for each goal scored by the team on the night to Beyond Blue.
By games end, there were nine goals scored and $900 donated to Beyond Blue by the supporter. The team banded together and donated some extra money, bringing the total to over $1,000 all in a Sunday afternoon's work and for a great cause.
The team continued their unbeaten streak and last week had the well-earned bye before taking on second and third place in the last two games to finish off the shortened season.
