It was a Shute Shield game to forget for the Southern Districts Rugby team being comprehensively beaten 57-19 at home by a dominant Eastern Suburbs.
After last week's one point win over Warringah the Rebels were hoping to keep their season in the black playing an East's team that was sitting below them on the ladder.
It started badly when Easts halfback Jack Grant scored in the first minute of the game and when Souths knocked on from a lineout win the opposition kicked a penalty goal to leave it at 10-0.
The Rebels didn't give in, spreading the ball from sideline to sideline looking to crack the defense finally scoring wide with a push across the line which was converted for a 10-7 scoreline.
It was still close at the break but all the damage was done in the second half with Eastern Suburbs making Souths pay again and again.
Souths have to regroup after losing all five grades and face the undefeated ladder leader Gordon Rugby Club away this week.
