The Sydney AFL round eight had all seven of the St George Dragons' Australian Football Club teams in action with a full day of football at its Olds Park home ground.
AFL Sydney competitions started the weekend of July 17-19, following a period of contact-training and match preparation from July 1.
The Premier Division team was up against its biggest test of the shortened season playing against the undefeated North Shore Bombers.
Last week the Dragons came home with a close to 200 point win over UTS but were brought back to earth by the Bombers going down 8.11.59 - 14.13.87.
The game was lost early for the Red and Whites, letting the Bombers get out to a lead they couldn't claw back. The home team failing to convert, kicking behinds rather than goals, which made all the difference.
St George goalkickers were B.Jones and N. Ryan with two each with N. Casalini, N. Coxall, D. Soffe, W. Mudge kicking one.
The Premier reserve team had a better result defeating North Shore 8.5.53 - 6.6.42.
The Dragons have increased its women's membership by 100 per cent this year filling two teams and they both tasted victory with the Women's Division 2 team hammering Pennant Hills 9.8.62 - 1.0.6.
It was a local derby in Division 3 with the home side downing neighbours Southern Power 10.9.69-3.4.22.
There was also some hair flying in the weekend breeze with Saints boys Nelson Carey, Dylan Sanderson, Brad Uglow, Finn Ritchie, Jacob Merlino, Jacob Stek, Jacob Dol and Dom Soffe getting behind the Black Dog Institute's Mullets for Mental Health campaign.
The players have reached their $5000 fundraising goal and the clippers were out again last week to hopefully get another digit on that fundraising total by the end of September.
Last year St. George AFC had one of its most successful seasons in its 91-year history with five out of six teams making finals, four of those teams making Grand Finals, and three of them winning premierships.
This week's final round will be played at home and has the Dragons sitting in fourth spot on the competition ladder playing the UNSW Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs who sit one place above them.
