Victoria reports 35 new cases, seven further deaths

There were just 35 new cases reported in the past 24 hours.

Sadly, a further seven deaths were recorded.

It takes the state total to 19,870 cases and 730 deaths.

There are two active coronavirus cases remaining in regional Victoria.

Today's figures continue a run of low daily increases for the state.

On Sunday, there were 41 new cases and on Saturday there were 37 - which was the lowest daily increase since late June.

More detail on today's figures - including the regional Victoria-metro Melbourne split - is expected later this morning.

On Sunday, Premier Daniel Andrews said Horsham had recorded a new active case, but it was not a concern, because the person was not in in the municipality.

He said the person was infected in Melbourne and has not visited western Victoria while infectious.

The case was reported to Horsham because the person's listed residential address is in the Horsham Rural City Council local government area/

Greater Bendigo and the Macedon Ranges each now have one active case of coronavirus according to data released by the Department of Health and Human Services on Sunday.

The Northern Grampians, Ararat, Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack shires all remain COVID-free.

Regional Victorians woke to the "second step" out of lockdown this morning.

The slightly eased restrictions allow for one-nominated visitor if you live alone, or are a single parent, and public gatherings of up to five people from maximum of two households can take place outdoors.

Mr Andrews has repeatedly said there is hope regional Victoria will move to the third step of the roadmap sometime this week.
