The NSW Government has lodged plans for a development proposal in the St George area that will deliver 20 new homes for vulnerable community members.
Oatley MP, Mark Coure, said the proposed development at Macpherson Street, Hurstville, forms part of the NSW Government's investment to build more fit for purpose, social housing throughout the State.
"The proposed $6.28 million project will transform the site from four aged dwellings into 20 new, modern homes for seniors, located near local transport, shops, schools and services," Mr Coure said.
"As part of this project, we will look to engage local builders and suppliers, creating 31 local jobs, helping to stimulate the local economy."
Minister for Water, Property and Housing, Melinda Pavey, said communities can expect to see more of these types of developments built.
"The NSW Government is ramping up its commitment to deliver more suitably designed and better located housing," Ms Pavey said.
The proposed development includes eight one-bedroom units and 12 two-bedroom units, onsite parking and associated landscaping works.
A development application for the proposal at Macpherson Street, Hurstville has been lodged with the Georges River Council.
The Council will be responsible for exhibiting and assessing the application.
The NSW Land and Housing Corporation has also released detailed plans for 14 new seniors' homes at Croot Street, Hurstville.
This development is part of the NSW Government's Future Directions for Social Housing - a plan to drive better outcomes for tenants by providing more and better social housing that blends-in with communities.
