It was a bad night out for the Cronulla Sharks beaten 34-18 by the Roosters in their round 19 clash.
In a huge blow to their upcoming finals series, main playmaker Shaun Johnson was taken from the field on a medi-cab with a serious achilles injury, Royce Hunt was also left with with a knee problem, and Josh Dugan's night finished when he limped off 10 minutes before full time.
Given Johnson's importance to the Sharks' season, their hopes of making a post-season dent in the competition final's hit the deck when he did.
The Sharks younger brigade still put in a committed performance, with Talakai again a standout and Connor Tracey , Katoa and Will Kennedy doing their best to ignite the attack.
With half Chad Townsend suspended and Matt Moylan still battling a bad hamstring, it will be another tough game for the Sharks as they attempt to regroup ahead of their final round 20 match against the Raiders on Saturday at Jubilee Stadium
