In the last three days, a total of just nine coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in NSW.
Despite this, health officials warn the virus is still circulating and want to see more tests carried out before school holidays start at the end of this week.
NSW Health figures for the last three days:
- Monday: Four new cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday - three returned overseas travellers, who are in hotel quarantine, and one locally acquired and linked to a known case or cluster.
- Sunday: Two new cases - one returned overseas traveller and one locally acquired, with early investigations indicating the infection may have been acquired at Liverpool Hospital.
- Saturday: Three new cases - two returned overseas travellers and one locally acquired and under investigation.
NSW Health advised on Sunday a man in his 70s, whose infection was linked to the Sydney CBD cluster, died on September 19.
Only 7765 tests were carried out in the last 24-hour reporting period, compared with 13,635 in the previous 24 hours.
"While it is not unusual for testing numbers to drop off over the weekend, NSW Health would like to see testing levels above 20,000 as achieved last week, particularly in South Western Sydney, and ahead of school holidays," a statement said.
"While the number of locally acquired cases recorded in the past 24 hours continues to be low, the virus is likely still circulating and it is imperative anyone displaying mild symptoms get tested immediately and not delay their test."
