Southern Power AFC Senior and Reserve grade teams will defend their Sydney AFL Platinum Division titles at Rosedale Oval Warwick Farm on Saturday in a bumper day for the club which also sees it's Under 19 Colts challenge for premiership glory.
It was a tough run home for the senior team who after a Covid-19 affected season won consecutive sudden death matches to reach the final.
In last weeks qualifying final they dismantled Macquarie University Warriors by convincing margins 13-6-78 to 5-11-44 to set up an epic final against arch rivals and minor premiers Penrith Rams whose only loss this season was to the rampaging premiers.
A delighted Seniors Player/Coach Josh Preston has his team primed to continue it's winning form
"We've really hit our straps at the business end of the season and will field a full strength team on Saturday" said Preston
"It's always a tough battle against Penrith especially to beat them out there. And we beat them comfortably which really boosts our confidence going into the weekend"
Power's former Port Adelaide forward Nick Salter booted eight majors on Saturday against the Warriors to help guide his team to victory and it's place in the grand final.
Also amongst best on the day were brothers Brandon and Hayden Mclean, Barton Lynch and ruck Thomas Van Greunsven.
In Saturday's curtain raiser Southern Power Senior Reserves defend their 2019 title against Macquarie Uni in what promises to be a close battle whilst Power's undefeated Colts meet Sydney University in the opening final of the day.
Meanwhile Power Women's Senior team will face off against Inner West Magpies in a semi final this Sunday at Henson Park in their quest for a maiden Premier Division title.
