Bayside Council has started work on a major upgrade of Bonar Street Park in Arncliffe, expected to cost almost $500,000.

"This upgrade will revitalize this park with shaded areas, a new playground that includes a children's circuit track and nature play," Mayor Joe Awada said.

The upgrade includes a play space with a variety of play equipment for children aged 2 to 12 years.

There will be a children's circuit track for trikes and scooters, nature play areas and a low boundary fence to Bonar Street fronting the playground.

The upgrade includes a shade sail over the younger children's play area, seats and picnic table and an area for children to kick a ball, landscaping including trees for shade and defined entries on Bonar Street.

Construction commenced in August 2020 and is expected to be completed in the summer holidays of 2020/2021.
