An unlicensed teenager has been charged after he allegedly rammed a police car in a stolen vehicle before leading officers on a pursuit at Lugarno yesterday.
Police detected a stolen Toyota Echo travelling south on Forest Road about 12.20am on Tuesday.
"Police will allege the driver attempted to conduct a three-point turn to avoid officers before colliding with their vehicle, causing minor damage," a police statement said.
"Officers commenced a pursuit of the vehicle for about 100 metres before the driver crashed into a kerb near the intersection of Renway Avenue.
"The driver and a passenger got out of the car and fled. With assistance from the Dog Unit, the pair was located in nearby bushland a short time later and the two boys, aged 16 and 15, were arrested.
"A second passenger, a 20-year-old man, was arrested at the scene.
"The trio was taken to St George Police Station and the vehicle was seized.
"The 16-year-old driver was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly.
"He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear in a children's court on Wednesday 18 November.
"The 20-year-old passenger was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner; and granted conditional bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday 17 November 2020.
"The 15-year-old passenger was released pending further investigation."
