A free Frightful Eighties Drive-in Cinema is coming to Connells Point for Halloween.
The event will see a a movie-marathon screening of the first season of Stranger Things over two nights, Friday October 30 and Saturday October 31.
Georges River Council is encouraging attendees to get creative, and dress their car in a spooky 80s Halloween-theme for the chance to win a $500 voucher for 'Best Dressed Vehicle.'
Georges River Council mayor Kevin Greene said that the event forms part of the council's COVID-19 Safe Community Events Program, which was developed to enable the community to enjoy local events and activities.
"I am delighted to be bringing another quality event to the Georges River, where residents have the opportunity to socialise and enjoy some entertainment while also staying COVID-19 safe," Councillor Greene said.
"The Frightful Eighties Drive-in Cinema is the third event to roll out in council's COVID-19 Safe Community Events Program, following its Spring Foodies Market and Be Kind 2 Your Mind mental health online series, which is running until the end of October.
"I encourage residents to come along and get involved in the fun by dressing up their car in a Halloween-themed costume. Remember to turn up early to secure a spot, as places are limited and we're operating on a 'first come first served' basis for this event.
"Spring and Summer in the Georges River is traditionally a very festive period and I am pleased that Council has been able to adapt to the changing environment brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic to bring a range of experiences for the local community to enjoy all the way through to March next year," Cr Greene said.
