Following two hit movies and successful stage shows around the world, Magic Mike is finally coming to Sydney - and there's a local in the cast.
Magic Mike Live will kick off at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park from December 17, in a specially-designed tent and Covid-safe conditions.
The talented cast have been training during isolation to ensure they're in tip-top shape for the live dance and acrobatic spectacular.
Hurstville dancer Jake Paul Green is one of the cast members, and told the Australian Community Media there was a lot for fans to like about Magic Mike Live.
"The show is an action-packed night filled with magic and wonder," he said.
"It's not your typical Chippendales-type show, it's definitely more upmarket, with lots of flow and energy throughout the show.
"It doesn't feel like a 'ladies night' kind of show - everyone leaves feeling very invigorated and exhilarated.
"Magic Mike Live is a lot more than just 14 guys half-naked on stage."
Green said he was so excited when he heard he'd aced his audition and was part of the cast for the show.
"It was one of the most comfortable auditions I've ever been on," the 28-year-old said.
"I was full of nerves and anxiety waiting a week or two to hear back, but the whole team were so caring.
"When this opportunity came up I knew it was the big one and it just had to come through for me. I jumped straight on it so I could get my head and body in the right place.
"Funnily enough, back in 2015 when the second move came out I was involved in the Australian premier at the Interational Convention Centre as one of the 20 male dancers.
"Fast forward five years and I'm part of the show!"
Green said he was counting down the days until the beginning of rehearsals, and eventually opening night.
"I'm more excited about this than anything in my life," he said.
"My family are all in Perth so they won't be able to come over and see the show when it opens without quarantining, but my beautiful partner will be at opening night."
Green said the production had done everything possible to ensure attendees have a "100 per cent safe and enjoyable experience".
He said Magic Mike Live was the perfect choice for a return to live events.
"This show is so much more than a bunch of guys with their clothes off," he said.
"You'll leave the experience feeling elated. It's a strong, masculine performance with Cirque du Soleil-inspired work and some of the greatest trickers in the world.
"This show is raising the bar for live performances."
Attendees must be 18 to get into Magic Mike Live.
The season kicks off on December 17 with performances Tuesdays-Sundays ever week.
Tickets start at $59. Details: magicmikelive.com.au
