Members of the public assisted a police officer as she chased a wanted man through Cronulla mall and adjoining back streets today.
A police statement said, about 1pm on Wednesday, the sergeant from Sutherland Shire command was patrolling the mall on foot and spoke with a man, 24.
"She became aware he was wanted on 4 x warrants relating to several breaches of an apprehended violence order, resisting arrest and breaching a community corrections order," the statement said.
"The man ran from from the sergeant and she chased him through Cronulla mall and adjoining back streets before he climbed on top of shops.
"During the chase, many members of the public helped the sergeant, as she was chasing him alone.
"People were pointing out which direction he ran, picked up dropped items for the officer and one man helped in the foot chase for a bit.
"Other police arrived to assist and he was arrested.
"Many thanks to those members of the public who assisted during this chase and arrest."
