A six-wicket win over the Hurricanes at Drummoyne Oval on Sunday.has confirmed a place in the WBBL|06 finals for the Sydney Thunder
Sydney Thunder's coach Trevor Griffin praised St George-Sutherland Slayer star Tahlia Wilson as a player who is "driving the beat" for his Women's Big Bash team.
Wilson, who also represents the NSW Breakers, has made a huge impression on her teammates, which include the likes of the Australian national team's vice-captain Rachael Haynes, England skipper Heather Knight, teenage batting sensation Phoebe Litchfield and South African pace ace Shabnim Ismail.
"It's not just the work Tahlia is doing with the gloves," enthused Griffin. "If you watch closely, she's picking up the angles, she makes adjustments within the field, and she's getting the team through the overs.
"We often talk about the drummer in the band, and Tahlia is certainly driving the beat for Thunder."
Wilson, who turned 21 in the WBBL 'bubble' which was introduced due to Covid restrictions, said she was enjoying being Thunder's first choice keeper after serving her apprenticeship behind Kiwi international Rachel Priest last summer, and Aussie 'keeper Alyssa Healy at the Sixers.
"It's been really good for me to be able to grab the gloves for Sydney Thunder this year," said Wilson. " last year I was in the team, but I didn't quite have the gloves, so it's been a really good challenge and I've felt pretty comfortable behind the stumps."
Thunder will meet the Brisbane Heat on Thursday at North Sydney Oval.
