A child has been taken to Sydney Children's Hospital in a stable condition after being hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing outside a primary school today.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman said they were called to Lilli Pilli Point Road, Lilli Pilli, just before 3.30pm today following reports a child had been hit by a car.
He said paramedics treated a girl, 8, for an ankle injury and grazing before she was taken to Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick, in a stable condition.
The accident happened outside Lilli Pilli Public School's senior campus for students in years 3 to 6. There is a zebra pedestrian crossing just outside the school.
A parent from the school said it was believed the girl had just left school for the day and ran on to the crossing when she was struck.
The Leader has asked NSW Police to comment.
