The St George region has received almost $100,000 to revitalise four local Crown land sites.
The funds are part of the NSW Government's $51.7 million investment in revitalising local crown land Reserves.
A total of $96,760 has been secured for local projects including:
-$29,980 to Georges River Council towards the control of weeds on Oatley Park.
-$25,000 to Georges River Council towards the control of weeds on the Bald Face Point Reserve.
-$21,780 to Georges River Council towards the control of feral animals on Crown Reserves in the Georges River LGA.
-$20,000 to Georges River Council towards the control of weeds at Oatley Point Reserve.
Oatley MP Mark Coure welcomed the funding as a much needed boost to local environmental preservation and community green space.
"This program aims to improve recreation facilities and enhance crown land reserves which are an integral part of our community and our environment," Mr Coure said.
"Forty percent of NSW is Crown Land and it is so important that we utilise these areas not only for sport and activities, but as a space for local flora and fauna to thrive."
Across the State, the Crown Reserves Improvement Fund (CRIF) has also been used to support key community organisations including Surf Life Saving clubs, RSPCA facilities and PCYC centres.
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Rob Stokes, said the NSW Government's Crown Reserves Improvement Fund received a $40 million boost this year in response to COVID-19 and bushfires, on top of $17 million already budgeted.
"This funding showcases that our government is committed to rebuilding our sense of community after recent crises and it also demonstrates the power and importance of local organisations and public spaces," Mr Coure said.
