Ten drivers were charged with driving under the influence of an illicit substance during a large-scale police operation in Sutherland Shire over the weekend.
The traffic enforcement operation, which targeted poor driver behaviour in the Sutherland area, also saw 81 infringement notices issued for offences including driving unregistered/uninsured vehicle and exceeding the speed limit.
Operation Fume took place on Saturday from 11am to 7:30pm and involved police from City South Highway Patrol and Redfern Region Enforcement Squad.
They targeted driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol as well as general traffic compliance in the Sutherland area.
During the operation, police conducted 180 breath-tests and 153 drug tests.
A woman was charged with high-range drink-driving while a man was charged with refusing a breath-test.
Charges were also laid for possess and supply prohibited drug, proceeds of crime and drive while disqualified.
Police issued 81 infringement notices for offences including driving unregistered/uninsured vehicle and exceeding the speed limit.
Sutherland Shire Police Area Command said the community could expect similar operations within the command in the future.
Police conducted a similar operaion in 2019 which saw 25 drivers arrested for drink-driving, while 17 were arrested and charged for driving while under the influence of drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine and cannabis.
