Wanda takes Tradies trophy

Leading surf athletes, masters and nippers from clubs across Sydney took part in the postponed event.

The carnival provided an important hit-out for competitors leading up to the State Championships starting this weekend and the Australian Surf Life Saving Titles in April.

Overall, carnival honours went to home club Wanda, winning the Tradies Trophy for highest club pointscore, followed by Elouera, North Cronulla, South Maroubra and Warilla the top five.

"Our carnival brings together competitors of all ages, gender and ability," said John De Cean OAM, carnival organiser.

"It's all about young and older generations participating together, enjoying a great day out and putting their lifesaving skills on display."

The first events were the 2km beach runs, with Wanda's Ali Najem and North Cronulla's Tiahna Woodger crossing the line first.

Wanda's Britney Pierce took out the open women's board, swim and ski.

It was an all Wanda affair in the open men's water events, with young gun Noah Steiner winning both board and swim and Hayden Allum winning the ironman and ski events.

Cronulla's Ace Haslam won the Brooks Marc Leabeater Memorial Trophy in the Opens Men's Sprint and Elouera's Bridgette Salib the women's, Cronulla's Josh Tattam battled hard to win the open men's beach flags, with talented North Cronulla SLSC Emily Rampoldi taking out the women's event.
