Sydney FC was back in A-League action at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium on Saturday night, with a clash against the in-form Brisbane Roar playing out in a 0-0 draw.
The Sky Blues came up against a strong looking Roar side, sitting in third place, having played two games more than the Sky Blues due to Covid scheduling.
The visitors looked to impose themselves early in the contest, controlling possession. Still, Sydney FC had the best scoring opportunities, with Ninkovic twice being denied by Brisbane's veteran custodian.
In the second half, it was all blue as Sydney took control of the game and the chances in front of a good home crowd.
Rhyan Grant came close to an opening goal only to be denied twice by the post and bar, whilst the returning Brazilian Bobo almost made a perfect start if not for keeper Young's legs denying the downward header.
The winning goal wasn't to be as Head Coach Steve Corica's side settled for a share of the points in a contest with plenty of chances.
Coach Corica said, in the end, they should have won it, and in the second half, they played a lot better.
"It was what I wanted, more attacking, more getting balls into the box, more forward runs. We pinned them in there quite a bit and hit the crossbar and the post.
"Bobo, when he came on, had a great header saved by Jaime Young. I was pleased overall.
"It's good to get a game in and we have a short turnaround to play Melbourne City on Tuesday night, so we need to rotate a bit."
Sydney FC now wants all three points in their A-League Grand Final replay against Melbourne City on Tuesday night at AAMI Park.
Their upcoming March games have been confirmed and they will play three huge home games in 10 days at Kogarah's Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, including a Big Blue doubleheader.
The bumper two weeks of football starts with Western United on Wednesday, March 10 (7pm), before the Newcastle Jets arrive on Saturday, March 13 (5pm).
The month's final home game has the Sky Blues in a huge Big Blue A-League and Westfield W-League doubleheader, with the A-League squad kicking off at 7pm on Saturday, March 20.
