More onshore winds for Cronulla surfers to contend with this week as the nor-east swell still pummels our beaches.
Sunday's conditions were pretty good and Monday dawned with a rare offshore and a rising 6 ft East swell that showed glimpses of brilliance before the onshores returned.
Yesterday the swell dropped a little but the southerly picked up and really made a mess of the surface conditions making it hard work.
The forecast says today's conditions which look just like yesterday but a little smaller will slightly kick again on Thursday to 4-5 ft but with the wind blowing from the Nor-east.
Saying that the wind did swing a bit this morning just to the sou-west which left some of the faces cleaner than it has been and the crowd numbers have been pretty good.
The southerlies will return as the swell slowly drops to 2-3ft with the only glimpse of goodness a small window of clean winds on Sunday and Monday morning.
Jackson Baker and Kobie Enright have taken victories at the Port Stephens Pro presented by Mad Mex, the second event of the 2021 World Surf League Qualifying Series .
The three-day event saw different conditions with competition wrapping up in fun, two-to-three foot waves at One Mile Beach.
Fresh off a fifth-place finish at last weeks Great Lakes Pro, Jackson Baker came into the Port Stephens QS1,000 with one thing in mind - winning.
In the final, Baker came up against the form surfer of 2021 Jordan Lawler in what was set to be a blockbuster and the pair didn't disappoint. Lawler was unable to conjure the form he showed earlier in the day while Baker posted an excellent two-wave total of 16.70 to claim his fourth QS victory.
The Cronulla juniors Jarvis and Jordy Turansky got through a few heats but its a super competitive world and its a good learning curve for them going into the Maroubra contest.
The Vissla NSW Pro Surf Series and the WSL QS will now head south to Maroubra for the Mad Mex Maroubra Pro from the 26th - 28th February 2021.
