Bayside Council recognised Jacky Finlay-Jones at the March 10 council meeting for achieving life membership to the St George Football Association.
Ms Finlay-Jones achieved the membership in acknowledgement of her long service volunteer role as Competition Secretary, and her commitment to ensuring all football clubs are assisted equally and fairly.
Councillor Bill Saravinovski, who submitted the motion to council to present a certificate to Ms Finlay-Jones to acknowledge her contribution, said Ms Finlay-Jones worked on the ground with all the soccer teams and allocated the matches.
"I am yet to meet any club who has said a bad word about her," Clr Saravinovski said.
"Do you know how difficult it is to set games and allocate fields and teams?
"Thank you for a difficult task that you do and it's well respected and well regarded in Bayside City Council."
Clrs James Macdonald and Tarek Ibrahim also spoke highly of Ms Finlay-Jones.
Ms Finlay-Jones said it was "a privilege" to be recognised by the council and Football St George.
"We are all a community at football and we all work together, so this is lovely to see a volunteer recognised but without everyone else we can't achieve anything."
St George Football awarded the life membership to Ms Finlay-Jones at its AGM in February.
