Today is your last chance to apply for Sutherland Shire Council's annual Community Grants and Subsidies Program.
Not-for-profit organisations can apply for a grant or subsidy worth up to $20,0000 under the program, which is open to not-for-profit organisations in the local government area that have innovative, community-focused ideas.
The program seeks to support residents by funding a range of projects that contribute to a connected, supportive, inclusive and engaged community.
Applications for the 2021-22 program close at midnight tonight.
Sutherland Shire mayor Steve Simpson said the grants were a key part of the support the council provides local service organisations each year.
"Council has long recognised the importance of providing assistance to local not-for-profit organisations to allow them to extend their services to local residents in need of additional support," councillor Simpson said.
"This program plays a substantial role in supporting these valuable local organisations to continue their invaluable work and provide high-quality programs and services across our community."
The 2020-21 program saw $480,000 awarded to not-for-profit organisations and community groups to fund a range of projects.
This included more than 50 worthy initiatives such as senior's activities, youth outreach and services to support vulnerable families.
Support was also given to musical societies and choirs so they could continue to deliver performances for residents.
"We are fortunate to have a host of groups and networks in Sutherland Shire that offer their time and resources to improve the livelihood of many local families, and this annual program will provide a welcome boost in funding for their future," councillor Simpson said.
"We also acknowledge this has been an incredibly difficult time for many and we will continue to identify more initiatives to support the local community and improve liveability for all."
