Sutherland Shire Police Local Area Commander Superintendent Jason Box says Shire motorists behaved almost perfectly over Easter.
The police Easter Operation 2021 began at 12.01 am, Thursday, April 1, and continued until 11:59 pm on Easter Monday, April 5.
Double-demerit points were in force throughout the period for offences including speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, mobile phone use and failure to wear a motorcycle helmet.
Superintendent Box said police conducted thousands of random breath tests over the Easter long weekend.
"We are very pleased with Shire motorists because out of the thousands of tests we conducted, there was only one prescribed concentration of alcohol (PCA) offence detected," he said.
"On top of that, we had two unrelated other offences, for seat belts and a matter of driving.
"We congratulate the community for heeding and taking on board the message of not driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs over the break.
"Police were pleased that motorists drove sensibly.
"Easter is a busy time on the roads and the fact that drivers were not impaired by alcohol, they drove safely and to the road conditions, that makes a difference to the safety of all road users and pedestrians."
