G'day readers,
In the Leader newsroom, we have all noticed a bit of a chill in the air lately.
Winter is coming, but that hasn't stopped people from the Shire and St George areas venturing out and about, no doubt enjoying the relaxed restrictions after COVID put a dampener on things.
Life appears to be slowly returning to normal. Live shows are going on sale. People are using their Dine and Discover vouchers to eat in the outdoors areas of restaurants, and public places are bustling with people.
Superintendent Jason Box said Police are not out to ruin people's fun. They only have the public's safety as a primary concern.
Sunday, April 25, is Anzac Day.
In other news, Murray Trembath wrote a touching In Memorium for Dr Bertha de Souza, a courageous trailblazer for women in Sutherland Shire known for being gentle, humble, and her selfless nature and wise counsel.
Murray tells us developer Allen Sammut has wasted no time in taking the final step towards gaining approval to build a new pub and commercial offices on the northern edge of Monro Park, Cronulla. What do you think about the plans?
Sarah Falson explains why Bayside and Georges River Councils have agreed to continue to share waste services for another 10 to 15 years. Do you think it is a good idea?
Also, in council news, Kayla Osborne tells us Georges River Council's decision to demolish the Carss Park pool 'upon receipt of the appropriate development consent has been found unlawful. Our readers have been forthright with their opinions regarding the Carss Park pool, and we expect this latest twist in the tale will be no different.
Last week I told you I had asked the prime minister questions about the vaccine rollout and that I'd report to you his responses.
Mr Morrison chose not to answer my questions directly but continues to suggest to journalists we may be responsible for the lack of confidence in the vaccine rollout.
This week we gained more subscribers to our newsletter and now have a tad more than 3500 people opening up the 'weekly wrap' each Sunday.
Thank you for subscribing to the newsletter and thank you for reading the Leader, the team and I appreciate it.
Enjoy your day. I hope it is full of love and laughter.... and news.
See you next week.
