Local sports club honours its first batch of 100 game players

The local club, established in 2004, worked throughout COVID-19 to produce the tally from archives, revealing that 26 players had reached or were about to reach their 100th game milestone for the club.

Founding member and Taren Point Titans current President, Brett Robinson, said hosting the awards night at Gwawley Oval was a huge success in bringing past and present players, many of the club's life members and volunteers together to honour the achievement.

"It was a real honour to be able to recognise and celebrate this milestone with the players at our home ground, alongside many of the people who have helped make our club great throughout the years," Mr Robinson said.

"It is the first time we have had a physical clubhouse in our 17 years."

Each player took home an engraved boxed medallion and saw their name added to the 100 Game wall plaque, installed in the Gwawley Oval clubhouse.

While handing out awards, Mr Robinson told those gathered that COVID-19 might have shortened the 2020 season, but it presented the Titans with an opportunity to set up their new headquarters and do critical off-field planning.

The relatively young club is also growing in size. Mr Robinson believes after receiving the Club of the Year 2020 award by the Cronulla Junior League Association that this continues following the first batch of centurion players.
