Children across St George and Sutherland Shire are preparing to honour the memories of the fallen this Anzac Day.
Among them are brothers Noah and Nathanael Gergis, of Kogarah.
This Anzac Day, Noah, 3, and Nathanael, 4, will honour their great-great-grandfather, William Samuels, who served in World War II, by attending the dawn service at Ramsgate RSL.
Their mum Leah said teaching their children, which includes younger daughter, Charlotte, 2, to commemorate Anzac Day was something the family "always make time for", despite their young age.
"I ensure the spirit of Anzac Day is entrenched in their upbringing to ensure the spirit of the Anzacs are always remembered in our children," she said.
Mrs Gergis said she had replicas of her great-grandfathers medals made for the boys and they were fascinated with them. She also kept the Anzac spirit alive with the children through Anzac craft, Anzac baking, storytelling with grandparents and visiting local memorials.
She said talks with grandparents had uncovered some interesting information.
"We have discovered with our living grandparents who are of Egyptian heritage that they too worked alongside our Anzacs," she said.
"These conversations have then been had in more depth with our wider family and stories have unravelled."
