Chess has been the talk of the town since the release of record-breaking Netflix series The Queen's Gambit was released last year, and this weekend saw a score of chess aficionados take to Kogarah Town Square for a spot of the popular game.
The Swiss-style seniors vs youths chess tournament formed part of Georges River Council's National Youth Week activities.
Competitors of all ages took part in the event, with 60 people signing up.
First place went to Charles Zworestine, while James Griggs came second and Amerthan Thvevathasan rounded out the top three.
The tournament was sponsored by Home Instead Inner South West.
The event was designed to encourage family and intergenerational connections.
