Rockdale Ilinden FC faced Sydney United 58 at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday, April 25, in a scoreless grand final rematch.
Early dominance from Rockdale equated to nothing as poor finishing and an improved second half from United 58 ensured both sides shared the spoils.
Neither side was able to produce that one moment of inspiration to take all three points in an entertaining end-to-end game of football.
Rockdale coach Steve Zoric said that his side had United 58 on the back foot during the first half and that they just couldn't put away any of their chances.
"We seemed a little flat today," he said.
"They came at us quicker in the second half and we adjusted well but the lack of composure in the final third today let us down.
"What is pleasing is a fourth clean sheet in a row and that's always a bonus and we'll tackle our FFA Cup opponents, Prospect United, here on Wednesday night in the right frame of mind."
It was reported that following the match a brawl between spectators of both sides broke out.
Football NSW released a statement stating that following the incidents that occurred at the match on Sunday, at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Ground, they will be imposing the following measures:
- home matches of Rockdale Ilinden FC and Sydney United 58 FC will take place without home and away spectators; and
- away matches of Rockdale Ilinden FC and Sydney United 58 FC will take place without away spectators.
The statement said, "The above measures will remain in place until the investigation into the incidents is completed and outcomes determined. These measures apply to NPL NSW Men's 1st Grade and U20's, and FFA Cup matches".
"An external, independent investigator has been engaged to review the incidents and propose any charges.
"Football NSW is liaising with Football Australia regarding possible national and international sanctions against individuals that were involved in the incident.
"Separately, Football NSW and both Clubs are continuing to assist the Police with their investigation.
"Football NSW reminds everyone of the importance of providing a safe environment for spectators, players and officials and that Football NSW has a zero tolerance policy towards violent behaviour."
