Residents lined-up to be the first to experience the new Aldi Carlton store, and to have first pick of the supermarket's Special Buys.
Aldi Carlton opened on March 28 to a throng of eager locals who were keen to get their hands on some bargains including $89.95 eight-litre digital air fryers, $34.99 heated throw rugs, and $24.99 28-centimetre cast aluminium pots with lids.
The Aldi Carlton store features some design elements new to the Aldi chain, including redesigned shelving, expanded wooden produce bays, and extended energy-efficient chillers.
Alex Foster, Regional Managing Director of NSW, Aldi Australia, said energy management was a key priority for Aldi, with energy efficient LED lighting deployed throughout its stores.
"The Aldi brand has committed to become the first Aussie supermarket to power all our stores and warehouses with 100 per cent renewable electricity by the end of 2021," said Mr Foster.
Mr Foster said Aldi was keen to make a contribution to the community, and last year the supermarket chain donated more than 10 million meals and 34,000 kilograms of products to charity partners in Australia.
The new Aldi Carlton supermarket employs up to 20 permanent full- and part-time employees.
The store is at 74 Edward Street, Carlton, and is open 8:30am-8pm Monday to Friday, with extended hours until 9pm Thursday. Weekend hours are 8am-8pm Saturday and 9am-6pm Sunday.
