Further charges may be laid against a woman, who is alleged to have seriously injured her daughter with a car at Caringbah South while under the influence of alcohol.
An apprehended violence order (AVO), taken out by police after the incident, has been continued.
Dale Palmer, 58, of Caringbah South, appeared in Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday.
Ms Palmer is charged with driving a vehicle, a Toyota Scarlet, which was involved in an impact occasioning grievous bodily harm to Keely Palmer, and at the time was intoxicated.
She is also charged with driving with a high range PCA (prescribed concentration of alcohol), 0.166, which was a first offence.
The charges follow an incident in Ash Avenue, Caringbah South just after midnight on Sunday morning when Keely Palmer, 27, suffered severe injuries and was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
A police facts sheet was not tendered to the court.
The prosecution requested an adjournment to June 16, saying further charges could be laid.
The magistrate Joy Boulos continued bail and an AVO, in which she said Keely Palmer was "the person in need of protection".
