Carlton Public School students are taking part in a program which will see them learn about Australia and get fit at the same time.
Principal Steve Mead said students in years 5 and 6 were taking part in Race Around Australia - a virtual physical activity challenge where teams and schools race against each other.
The program has been added to the NSW Premier's Sporting Challenge by the NSW Department of Education to motivate students and staff to be 'more active, more often'.
"Students will be completing short bursts of physical activity across the school day over a 10-week period," Mr Mead said.
"This could be five minutes of running or walking a set course.
"The distance covered by students will then be tracked and displayed on a map tracking their journey as they 'Race Around Australia'.
"When students reach certain locations, they unlock content blogs about that place.
"This content will then be aligned with their class work in Science, Geography, History and PDHPE.
"Our students are very excited about the opportunity to travel around Australia without leaving our school grounds and are looking forward to seeing how much of our country they can cover."
