Three road safety projects in Sutherland Shire have received funding under the Safer Roads Program
The projects, announced by state MPs Lee Evans (Heathcote) and Eleni Petinos (Miranda), are:
- $180,000 for Sir Bertram Stevens Drive, Royal National Park to install a semi-rigid barrier on the roadside.
- $200,000 for Loftus Avenue between Myrtle Street and Lilac Street, to instal traffic calming infrastructure.
- $110,000 to instal a wombat crossing and pedestrian fencing on Warburton Street, Gymea.
Following earlier funding, another project at Waterfall is about to start.
Existing kerb ramps on Kooraban Street near the Princes Highway off-ramp and train station will be upgraded from the end of May to provide a safer environment for people using prams and wheelchairs, as well as pedestrians in general.
Work will be carried out over five shifts from Sunday May 30 - from 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 8pm to 5am Sunday to Thursday, weather permitting.
Temporary traffic changes will be in place during work hours.
