A pop-up Grind Espresso coffee shop is opening in the former North Cronulla beach kiosk.
Workers, including a sign writer, were busy today at the old premises, with the shutters to be raised for trading in about two weeks.
Grind brand was established at Cronulla by Richard Calabro many years ago and is also at Caringbah.
The beach kiosk closed on May 16 after more than half a century of selling drinks, ice creams and more recently coffee and light meals to generations of beach-goers.
The old building will be demolished as part of a major redevelopment of North Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club, but there is uncertainty as to when work will start.
The project was to have started by now, but with funding issues and COVID-19, there is no guarantee work will start this year.
Expressions of interest were called at the end of March for commercial operation opportunities in the kiosk area and on the first floor.
