Quick thinking from Firefighters extinguished a blaze at Kurnell that could easily have spread and caused significant damage.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) and NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) crews combined on Wednesday morning to put out a fire in a recycling truck alight at Prince Charles Parade.
A FRNSW spokesperson said the quick thinking of the firefighters allowed the fire to be extinguished before it got out of control.
"When crews arrived, the contents of the truck were smouldering. However, due to damage to the dumping mechanism in the truck, the operator was unable to dump the load so it could be quickly put out," the spokesperson said.
"FRNSW improvised by cutting a hole in the top of the truck's trailer, allowing them to pump water inside and extinguish the fire.
"No one was injured in the fire."
