Queensland police are urgently seeking the public's help to find a 10-year-old boy they say may be at significant risk after being taken from school by a man known to him.

The boy was taken from Woodford State School in the Moreton Bay region at around 3.30pm on Friday by Steve Sanderson.

The boy is described as Caucasian, 140cm tall with light brown hair, blue eyes, slim build with a fair complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue Woodford State School uniform.

Steve Sanderson is described as Caucasian, 178cm tall, of medium build with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Police believed the pair may be in the Fortitude Valley or Brisbane CBD area and are asking people with information on the case to call 131 564.
