With Sydney and the surrounding regions spending the next two weeks in lockdown, we must all work together once again to beat this virus. None of us want to do this, but we must do it to keep our state safe.
It will be tough for a lot of people and businesses, but this lockdown is the right decision. The NSW Opposition supports the Government's COVID-19 measures, based on the health advice, to keep us all safe and stop the spread of this deadly disease.
There will be a time to ask questions later - holding governments to account and ensuring transparency is a vital part of being in Opposition - but I won't politicise a pandemic. This is a health crisis, not a time for political point scoring and the priority for all of us must be the health and safety of the people of NSW.
These two weeks will be challenging for everyone in Greater Sydney and the regions, but we have been here before, and I know we can beat this if we all work together.
Remember to look out for each other. Stay in touch with friends, family, and neighbours. Check in with people in your community who might be doing it tough. Keep active and look after your mental health.
Dine and Discover vouchers have been extended until the end of August and can now be used for takeaway meals too so use them to support a local hit hard by this lockdown.
We will come out the other side of this two-week lockdown. I know the people of NSW will do the right thing, just as we have done before - stay at home, wear a mask, and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
