The Italian national team have returned to Rome holding the Euro 2020 trophy, after winning the title in a penalty shootout against England in Wembley.
After celebrating Italy's second European championship title in London, the Azzurri landed at Fiumicino airport early on Monday and made their way to the Parco dei Medici hotel to rest before a day of celebrations in Rome.
The captain Giorgio Chiellini stepped off the bus with a crown and posted to social media a picture of the trophy laying on his bed in the hotel room, honouring a tradition that "the master" Fabio Cannavaro started in 2006 with the Fifa World Cup trophy.
The national team will meet political figures throughout the day, including the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
Italy won the Euro 2020 championship with a 3-2 lead against England in the penalty shootout, after the first 120 minutes ended in a 1-1 tie.
