Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged a man over the shooting of another man at Turrella last year..
Just before 7am on Wednesday, 26 August 2020, emergency services were called to Knoll Avenue, Turrella, following reports of shots fired.
A 37-year-old man was found outside a home with several gunshot wounds.
He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in a serious condition and has since been released.
Initial inquiries were conducted by St George Police Area Command, before detectives from the State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad took charge of the investigation under Strike Force Whymoul.
In May this year, strike force investigators arrested a 46-year-old man at Yagoona. He was charged over his alleged role in the incident and remains before the courts.
Following further investigations, detectives arrested a 21-year-old man at a home at Prestons about 6.30am today.
A short time later, detectives executed a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) search at a business at Punchbowl and seized 235 extendable batons.
The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with 13 offences including;
Police will allege in court that the man shot a 37-year-old man outside a home at Turrella last year.
He was refused bail to appear at Liverpool Local Court today.
Investigations by the Criminal Groups Squad are continuing.
