Vitaland Kids Cafe to go into Thai restaurant space at Westfield Miranda

The Vitaland Kids Cafe is proposed for the Thai Splendid restaurant space on the ground level just inside the Kiora Road doors.

Customers will pay by the hour and the facility will also be available for parties.

A "one parent one child" policy will apply.

A development application (DA), with an estimated fitout cost of $95,000, has been lodged with Sutherland Shire Council.

Architectural plans indicate the play centre will include a tree house and slide, ball pits, train, carousel, petrol station and rope climb.

A mezzanine level will provide for imaginative play, such as dress-up, a vet clinic, Lego area and construction site.

The first Vitaland Kids Cafe opened at Rhodes Waterfront in November 2020.

The website for that centre advises a cost of $35 for two hours play time for one adult and one child plus a $20 food & drinks voucher.

A plan of management included in the DA for the Miranda centre, says "Vitaland Kids Cafe is a parent-child theme cafe with one child one guardian policy strictly applied to any customer entry".

"It is a special restaurant offering light meals, the open area is equipped with children's facilities, and the parent-child activity rooms is designed for interactive activities between children and parents," the document says.

"This is a place for parents to play with their children while having light meal options during the hours.

"The above activities will not be varied at different times of the day or week, or in different seasons.

"Children's activities must be supervised by parents and staff at all times.

"The 'one parent one child policy' is strictly applied to entrance.

"Vitaland Kids Cafe has a well-designed play system with inviting spaces along each wall and a central seating area for easy supervision.

"All of our playing areas will offer a clear view of children for parents and staffs for the purpose of supervision for safety reasons at all times.

"Prams will be parked at the specific parking..."

Regular hours of operation will be 9am to 6pm Monday to Sunday, with bookings for private parties available until 8pm or 9pm from Thursday to Saturday.

"An infrared fever sensing system will be installed at the entrance," the plan of management says.

"Only the customers with a healthy condition will be allowed for entrance. Before entering, customers need to get a ticket at the reception.

"The ticket will be a paper bracelet with a time of entrance recorded on it. After that a key of the locker will be given to customers. Customers can put their belongings and shoes in the personal locker.

"Prams will be only allowed when having a young baby and cannot affect the experience of other customers.

"Non-slip socks must be worn at all the times. If customers don't bring any, they can purchased at the reception."
